The Yoshimura kit is a replica of Wes Cooley’s Z1 and pays homage to the Kawasaki racing heritage that helped shape the company.
It comes with everything you need to transform your Z900RS into a replica of Wes Cooley’s 1977 Z1 right down the needle valve on the fork leg.
1977 was an exciting year for the Z1, as it is the year that competed in the AMA superbike championship with Wes Cooley piloting the four cylinders.
It is said that the best motorcycle racers can get any motorcycle to accelerate with lightning quickness out of any corner. If this is true, then the late Wes Cooley was among the greatest of all time.
The Z1 was always about technology and performance. The bike’s inline-four engine was used as a testing platform, which led to the first turbocharged DOHC four-cylinder motorcycle.
This development helped the Z1 become the fastest bike on the AMA Superbike top speed list. Pridmore, who initially was on BMW, later chose to ride the Z1.
Touch points
With this package, you get to have Yoshi touch all the necessary cooking points for this machine’s potential.
And how much of an improvement will you see? Of course, it depends on what you are starting with.
To kick things off, Yoshimura offers up to six conversion kits for the Z900RS. The best and most obvious place to start with any Yoshimura build is with the exhaust system.
They are perfect for wet-weather riding and the hot, dry climates many of us are currently experiencing.
According to their information, these kits are fully removable for inspection or maintenance, which I’m sure more than a few of you already do out of habit on your stock exhausts.
Further, they have to be road legal. There are two Specs.
Spec 1: Kit includes a Yoshimura carbon fibre front fender a carbon fiber components like the injection body, side panels, tail, cover and tank with an official paint scheme and logos.
Yoshimura provides an additional screen for the Cafe version.
Spec 2: This Spec include the rear components like the fender, casing, footrest and protections. It also has the matt black painted titanium four in one exhaust.
