The Noale wonder Aprilia is aggressive in Europe with its past launches like RS660, which is applauded by the motorcycle world.

To expand its mid-size ADV segment, we see Tuareg 660 coming on the motorcycle scene.

However, when it comes to India, Aprilia is more aggressive with its scooter segment, and again we will see the new  Aprilia SXR 160 in a couple of days.

India portfolio

As far as Aprilia’s portfolio for India we do see RSV4 1100 Factory, Tuono V4 1100 Factory and Tuono V4 1100 RR.

When it comes to scooter segment, there are models like the SR 150 RACE,160, Storm 125 and SR 125.

It shows Aprilia has grande opportunity to expand its portfolio when it comes to motorcycle segment.

On the other hand, Diego Graffi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Piaggio India has announced his ambitious plans for India.

RS 400 and Tuono 400

The plan is to bring small capacity motorcycles in the range from 300 cc and 400cc. They will arrive in India by 2022-2023.

Further, he said the new motorcycles would get design and build in Italy. However, these motorcycles will specifically be for the Indian market.

The cues will arrive from its famous flagship models, the Aprilia RS and Tuono.

With China already started the production we also understood Aprilia had planned to bring the RS 150 to Indian shores.

RS 150

However, as per Graffi, the dynamics of the Indian market are evolved, and Aprilia now sees more traction in midsegment. Therefore they now plan to bring what we would see as Aprilia RS400 or Tuono 400.

How the RS 400 will look like

Aprilia did display the RS150 and Tuono 150 during the 2018Auto Expo. But then it is likely we would be able to see it in future.

How Tuono 400 will look like

The new Aprilia RS400 or Tuono 400 as we see will entirely be a new platform as Aprilia had developed for the RS 660.

We do expect these bikes will be high on premium when they arrive in India.
