Carbon fibre isn’t a new material and once was used on the influential Britten V1000 build by John Britten.

Now BMW Motorrad is using the same material on its wheel for the BMW S 1000 RR. To minimize the weight and to increase the strength, there isn’t any ideal material apart from Carbon fibre.

The material is processed in a very complex fashion using high-pressure furnaces, the so-called autoclaves.

Advantages well it’s simple the wheel gets less weight lower rotational mass which leads to improving acceleration. Plus braking performance is refined.

In short: The motorcycles become even more agile and dynamic. Besides, the carbon fibre surface, coated with high-gloss clear lacquer, is a real eye-catcher thanks to its deep black shimmering structure.

The M Performance carbon fibre wheels for the S 1000 RR are 1.7 kg lighter in total than the standard aluminium wheels, compared to already launched wheels which have reduced weight by 1.6 kg.

All parts such as the 5 mm thick brake discs (standard: 4.5 mm), sensor rings, included are wheel bearings and tyre pressure control valves in the complete wheelset.

The M Performance carbon fibre wheels are available since 1 August 2020.
