“Revolution never goes out of style.” It is the long-awaited update to Harley’s Sportster line, which hasn’t significantly changed in decades. A new report sheds some light on what motor the bike will be using, and it sounds like that “revolution” will be more than just a look.

Revolution

A new Sportster platform promises to be lighter, making the motorcycle easier to wheel around the city. But there’s more in addition to its previous teaser shots. Harley-Davidson has announced that it will premiere a new engine: the Revolution in just a few hours.

The “revolutionary” mill will replace the current Sportster’s 1200 cc V-twin engine with a smaller displacement and air/oil-cooled 975 cc powerplant. Harley says this is its smallest and lightest “big twin” ever made.

Harley-Davidson recently published a product page for a new Sportster handlebar. And mirrors kit designed to fit the “21-later Revolution Max engine-equipped models (RH975 and RH1250S models)” of the brand’s two models mentioned above. If you are unaware code-naming convention Harley-Davidson uses regarding their latest engines, let us explain.

The Revolution family of engines is based on an entirely new air-cooled setup. Displacing 975cc. Previously referred to as the Milwaukee Eight engine. Harley later renamed the mill to reflect its displacement.

S

Here, “S” stands for a model having its objective inclined towards performance. So we feel this model will make sure it fills the gap between older and the sub litre class Harley models.

Harley has discontinued Iron 883 in Europe. This means RH975 will be a solution to their entry-level model.

Harley-Davidson seems to be ready to unveil the next generation of Sportsters. First, the 2022 model will get a new engine, and now and they have trademarked the names Nightster and 48X.

The two new names were spotted in a filing at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) by a sharp eye on the motorcycle magazine Motorcycle.com.

One more day to go, and we will see more of the new Sporster. While Harley has not revealed any price, we assume it will be around $15,499

which is good compared to their larger models.
