Late October 2020 we saw a formal tie-up between the worlds two iconic motorcycle manufacturers Hero MotoCorp and Harley Davidson.
The Announcement
Embarking on a new journey together, Harley-Davidson, Inc. (“Harley-Davidson”). The legendary motorcycle manufacturer and Hero MotoCorp.

Per a distribution agreement, Hero MotoCorp will sell and service Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Aswell sell Parts & Accessories and General Merchandise riding gear.
And apparel through a network of brand-exclusive Harley-Davidson dealers. And Hero MotorCorp’s existing dealership network in India.
As part of a Licensing agreement. Hero MotoCorp will develop. Plus sell a range of premium motorcycles under the Harley-Davidson brand name.
These actions come to align with Harley-Davidson’s business overhaul. The Rewire, and the company’s announcement in September to change its business model in India.
The arrangement is mutually beneficial for both companies and riders in India.
The collaboration brings together the iconic Harley-Davidson brand with a strong distribution network. And customer service of Hero MotoCorp.

Further to the announcement, we now see Harley and Hero taking a step further by signing ten dealerships in India.
For India Harley already has said it would continue its operations till 31 December 2020.
About these ten dealerships, the details are still under the wrap. And the company is yet to make the formal announcement.
We expect the announcement will happen by the end of this month.
On the other side, the issue of the compensation persists as Harley-Davidson dealers association waits to further hear from the Harley.
However, Harley, in its press release, has ensured for its existing customers. There will be a smooth transition between them and Hero.
The warranty on the components as well as the merchandise sales. And after-sales service will be available after January 2021.
With this new collaboration. We do expect small-displacement motorcycles under various segments in the coming few years.
