2022-Yamaha-MT10

IN JUST A FEW SHORT YEARS, the MT-10 has established itself as a formidable contender in the naked class. With a power figure just shy of 156 hp from its 998cc. The MT-10 strikes a remarkably similar balance between performance and usability to its MT-09 sibling.

And with similar styling, the naked MTs have formed a remarkable one hundred horsepower family. But who’d have thought Yamaha nearly dabbed out on the naked division entirely?

The MT-10, Yamaha’s current naked in the US market and a couple of other world markets, is already a fun. Entertaining ride.

But before you experience that for yourself, it’s time to know what lies ahead in the next few years.

If a series of upcoming model year changes in Europe are any indication. The MT-10 will get the power boost in 2022.

Further in 2022, Yamaha will update the MT-10 to display the same cues as its new siblings.

Expected design and specs

The current bike’s tall handlebars and tank may get replaced with a more sporting riding position. Bringing it closer to the MT-07 and MT-09. The fuel tank will be slimmed down.

To reduce drag and increase power for potential buyers drawn to its naked styling, Yamaha may also plan to revise the airflow around the fuel tank, extending further forward along the side of the bike and onto new bodywork.

The 2022 MT-10 power is expected to rise from 156hp to 161hp.And Yamaha may also further plan to improve the torque and take it to 82.6 lb-ft, which means there would be a marginal rise in top speed from 152 mph to 155 mph.

The approval documents don’t talk about the MT-10’s styling. However, we do see new dimensions when it comes to design.

There is no change in the width, which is 31.5-inches. However, the height is 2.2 inches taller, which is 45.9-inch compared to the outgoing model.

The new wheelbase comes around to 55.3 and inches grows by .2 inches. Expect an increase in weight by 4.4 pounds, making the standard variant weigh 467.4 pounds while the SP variant goes up to 471.8 pounds.

Yamaha will ditch the headlight and put a new cyclopic headlamp and slit LEDs.However, we will still have to wait for the images to discuss the 2022 MT-10 model.

With EICMA 2021 coming near, we are sure to see the new 2022 MT-10.
