The market for electric scooters is small at the moment, but it’s growing by leaps and bounds.

Most people tend to opt for conventional motorbikes whenever possible, which means a ton of room for growth in this segment.

As such, it wasn’t too surprising when we learned that BMW had developed two new electric scooters.

The new BMW bikes are entirely powered by an electric battery and have no direct connection to the motor.

The energy is stored in batteries and recovered when braking, making driving a lot easier and more relaxing.

The humble battery had come a long way since the mid-1800s when Alessandro Volta of Italy first penned research that eventually led to batteries used in everyday life.

While there’s no time frame for the bike’s release, expect it to be in stores well before 2020. Let us know what you think of the concept in the comments below!

BMW unveiled the other product is the Urban e-Bike. A fully electric scooter that will appeal to those who have a longer commute to work and have limited storage in their apartments.

The Urban e-Bike, like the Dynamic Cargo.Features a three-wheel design and comes with a battery pack that can be charged via both wired and wireless methods.

“Our goal was to develop a concept that retains the agility. And driving feel of a normal bicycle while adding innovative, safe transport options,”

Jochen Karg, head of vehicle concepts in BMW’s new technologies and China division, said in a statement.
